In the heart of Lille, a new chapter of urban development is unfolding on the 23-hectare site of "ZAC Saint-Sauveur", with a modern sports center as its centerpiece.
Construction has been underway on the Rue Camille Guérin side since February 2024. The timber structure was completed within two months. The complex, spanning over 2,000 m² across multiple levels, offers a wide range of uses:
On the ground floor, a large multipurpose hall accommodates judo, basketball, volleyball, badminton, and more – open to everyone. The first floor houses two dojos (training place for fighting sports), while the second floor features another sports area for basketball, volleyball, and badminton, primarily used by clubs, schools, and local initiatives.
The building impresses not only with its functionality but also with its sustainable construction. Designed as a passive house, it is one of the first sports facilities in France to meet particularly high energy standards: Heating energy demand is below 15 kWh/m² per year, and total primary energy consumption is under 120 kWh/m² annually.
The HASSLACHER group supplied a total of 185 m³ glued laminated timber special components, straight beams and arch beams, with pre-assembled metal parts just-in-time to the construction site in Lille from its locations in Hermagor (HASSLACHER Holzbausysteme GmbH) and Stall (NORITEC Holzindustrie GmbH).
