An 80 metre long timber structure spans the entrance to the new underground station on St. Kilda Road in Melbourne, Australia. The impressive torus-shaped roof consists of diagonally arranged and curved glued laminated timber beams resting on steel supports.
The curved glued laminated timber beams, that are partially over 20 metres long, were transported to the construction site in Australia using a special transport system for extra-long components. The HASSLACHER group supplied a total of over 350 m³ of curved and straight glued laminated and cross laminated timber elements made of spruce.
