A place to grow and learn. The youth center is part of the larger renovation project of the Bortolotti Sports Center in Zingonia, Bergamo.
The building has two floors with a total area of 1,610 m². Inside there is a large gym, rooms for physiotherapy, study rooms as well as offices, meeting rooms, a conference room and an area for television recordings.
The construction consists of a timber support system in frame construction, cross laminated timber ceiling elements and a pitched roof with glued laminated timber beams in visual quality. The 14 meter cantilevered ceiling above the gym was technically solved without intermediate supports by creating the horizontal structures with two ""Vierendeel"" beams, which are integrated into the supporting walls on the upper floor. The youth center is oriented towards the training grounds on all sides and acts as the fulcrum of the entire sports zone. This creates a strong interaction between inside and outside.
