      HASSLACHER Group Receives Award

at the Renowned Timber Construction Prize Styria 2025

The HASSLACHER Group has been honored today with the Recognition Award at the Timber Construction Prize Styria 2025 for its innovative office and administration building at the Preding site. The award ceremony took place at a festive event at the Orpheum Graz.

Flagship Project for Modern Timber Construction

The new office building of HASSLACHER PREDING Holzindustrie GmbH impressed the jury with its successful combination of architecture, craftsmanship, and sustainability. The three-story building strikingly demonstrates the performance of modern timber construction systems and sets new benchmarks for office buildings in terms of sustainable design.

“This award is a great honor for us,” explains Christoph Kulterer, CEO and owner of the HASSLACHER Group. “With this project, we wanted to show what is possible with wood and our own timber construction products – from planning to industrial prefabrication to assembly. The building embodies our DNA: innovation, sustainability, and craftsmanship at its best.”

      Innovative Construction and Impressive Figures

The building, designed by Trecolore Architects, stands out with its technical features:

      • Around 1,000 m³ of timber products from HASSLACHER’s own production
      • 232 m³ of glued laminated timber (glulam) made from spruce, birch, and larch
      • 655 m³ of cross-laminated timber (CLT) with premium surfaces
      • Only 6 weeks of construction time for the timber structure

A particular highlight is the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM), which enabled precise planning down to the smallest detail and significantly increased the efficiency of industrial prefabrication.

      Sustainability as a Core Principle

The building was constructed in accordance with strict PEFC guidelines and exclusively with PVC- and halogen-free materials. Every component comes from PEFC-certified forests – documentation that already earned the HASSLACHER Holding the PEFC Award in 2024 for the new office building in Preding in the “Chain of Custody” category.

Sustainable building technologies include a fully automated ventilation control system with heat pump technology, a photovoltaic system, EV charging stations, and an extensively greened flat roof. Generous glass façades ensure optimal natural lighting, while external loggias and terraces serve both as structural wood protection and shading elements
